** Earth Day!

well, another Earth Day is upon us! Yippee..no, i'm serious, this is a great thing! every year more and more people become aware of ways to help the environment, and that is awesome provided they continue to do whatever beneficial "granola, tree-hugger" thing that they start now.
i am back on track to recycle my cans, glass & plastic (small steps people). the only issue i have had in the past is that in my county, they only pick up certain things each monday. for instance, next week may be just glass..(i made the mistake of mixing in years past) and they wouldn't take any of it-so i got frustrated and stopped altogether!! NOT the correct approach to saving the EARTH people!
i was reading up on some easy things people can do to help. things such as let your grass clippings stay on your lawn (it fertilizes and keeps weeds down), use compact fluorescent bulbs (more $ to start, but they last 5 years), recycle, install energy efficient windows, water heaters, etc., take quicker showers & use cold water for laundry (i am weird about this for my sheets though). i am hoping to replace my crappy, old, worn out windows hopefully sometime this year!!
if i had a tree to plant today, i would! i would rather plant flowers though but already have a ton and am waiting for some to bloom.
